Welcome to the Birthday Ride 2004 page.

Each year I take my birthday off from work and go on a bike ride.

This was my ride for May 20, 2004. It started in Voluntown CT, went down through North Stonington, out through the Mystic, and back to Groton.

It was a great Spring day, temp about 65 F, (18c).

I started out in farm country, heading for the coast.

Rt. 201 is a great biking road, I like the way it appears to pop up from nowhere out of this field(:

Everyone's getting ready for planting.

Soon they'll be corn here(:

And riding on by Bob's Brick and Boat farm(:

Then heading on down through some hill country. Hills are the best,

..especially the steep ones,

and the curvy ones,

and the one's where you don't know what's next(:

But everyone knows, if you want to go down, you've got to go up ~(:

But I guess the luckiest shot of the day was the one of this courageous captain. Ya know brick and rock sailing ain't as easy as it looks...specially in two meter swells like this!
