An Ad Campaign
Asserts a Bush-Nader Alliance
By Mark Glassman
New York Times
Tuesday 24
August 2004
Washington - A new advertising campaign
satirizing the Republican financial support of
Ralph Nader's independent campaign for the
presidency sums up the effort this way: Bush-Nader
'04. In a
60-second television advertisement that begins
running on Tuesday an announcer alludes to an
unlikely partnership between Mr. Bush, the
conservative incumbent, and Mr. Nader, the long
shot who has made a career out of championing
liberal causes. The advertisement displays state
by state where Republican groups have supported
Mr. Nader.
"Republicans are helping Nader get on the
ballot in Oregon, Nevada, Michigan, Iowa, New
Hampshire, New Mexico, even Florida," an announcer
says. "Why? Because the right wing believes that
helping Ralph Nader helps George Bush."
The
advertisement is sponsored by TheNaderFactor.com,
a liberal group seeking to prevent the re-election
of President Bush. Chris Kofinis, a senior adviser
to the group, said the goal of the advertisement
was to discourage Mr. Nader from accepting money
and help from Republicans in qualifying for
ballots.
"We're talking about organized Republican
operatives," Mr. Kofinis said. "They're not doing
it in non-battleground states."
The
advertisement concludes with a blue italicized
Bush-Nader logo, a parody of the Bush-Cheney logo.
The advertisement is tongue-in-cheek, Mr. Kofinis
said, "but the message of the ad is that
Republicans are helping Nader, and Nader is not
disavowing that help."
The
commercial cost $5,000 to produce, and the
TheNaderFactor.com is spending an additional
$20,000 to run it dozens of times this week in New
Mexico and Wisconsin, where Mr. Nader won a
significant number of votes in 2000. His deadline
for submittting the necessary number of signatures
for getting on the ballot in those states is Sept.
7. Polls
suggest Mr. Nader could get at least 2 percent to
3 percent of the vote in a dozen swing states.
"He is now
at a point where his entire legacy may come down
to him helping Bush stay in office for another
four years and him cooperating with the right-wing
groups that he's opposed," Mr. Kofinis said.

In the first place:
Rather than believing the hype you
posted above as "facts" from the andi-nader group
"The naderFactor"... I'd rather
digest information from the Center for Responsive
Politics: Egg On Their Faces:
Democrats' Big Lie Exposed
Center For Responsive Politics
Disproves Myth of Republican Funding for Nader
: Finds Only 4% of
Nader's Funding Comes from Donors to Republicans
Fifty-one Donors Gave $54,000 to Nader; Same
Donors Gave $66,000 to Democrats! Washington,
DC: The Independent Presidential Campaign of Ralph
Nader and Peter Miguel Camejo notes that a report
by the Center for Responsive Politics provides
reliable data that, among the Nader donors
surveyed, Republican donors who are funding George
W. Bush are giving more money to the Democrats
than to the Nader/Camejo Campaign.
The Center for Responsive Politics
found only 4% of Nader's funding came from donors
who had also given to Republicans. This compares
to 25% of Nader's votes in 2000 coming from
registered Republicans. These same Republican
donors gave more money to Democrats ($66,000),
than to Nader ($54,000). See www.crp.org
The Nader/Camejo Campaign
makes the following additional points:
In addition to one-quarter of
Nader's voters in 2000 being registered
Republicans, Nader has worked with individual
Republicans throughout the course of his career.
One donor mentioned by the Center, Jeno Paulucci,
the Florida frozen pizza roll magnate, worked with
Nader on public interest issues regarding the
Mesabi Iron Range, in Minnesota. Other Republicans
in this category include Robert Monks (corporate
governance) and Ben Stein (investors' rights).
Not only is the 4% of donations a tiny
portion of Nader's support, it comes from people
who agree with him on the issues and want him to
get his message out to the public. "For too
long the Democrats have been falsely claiming that
there is an organized Republican funding campaign
supporting us. They disseminate this big lie to
provide a cover for their dirty tricks. Now the
truth is out—Republican support is minimal, less
than the percentage of registered Republican
voters in 2000," said Nader. It is time for the
media to stop reporting the 'Big Lie' and start
reporting the truth. The Nader
Campaign is dedicated to pulling away from George
W. Bush Independent and Republican voters who are
furious with Bush over many of the same conditions
our campaign has been articulating. These include:
the Iraq quagmire; the gigantic deficit; the
big-government Patriot Act; corporate welfare and
corporate crime; federal regulation of local
education and "Leave No Child Behind"; and the
sovereignty-shredding impact of the WTO and NAFTA.
In the second place:
Many of us are concerned about the descending
spiral of death and violence in Iraq. It's
difficult to give any creedence to your anti-Nader
propaganda as you have no opinion on the war.

Yes, I can, but I won't. Besides,
it seems to me that you've inferred that I've
taken a previous position regarding Kerry and
the war, which I haven't and
won't. | | In
the third place, you man is going to push the
violence further: From the Wall Street
Journal: http://www.wsws.org/articles/2004/jul2004/kerr-j17.shtml
Democratic candidate Kerry vows
to maintain US troops in Iraq for years.
By Patrick Martin 17 July 2004
"Kerry is reassuring
the US ruling elite, including the far-right
elements who now back Bush, that he can be trusted
to carry forward the US conquest and occupation of
Iraq. ... The main difference
between Kerry and Bush on Iraq boils down to
Bush’s continued, albeit cynical and false, claim
that the US mission in Iraq is to bring “freedom”
and “democracy,” words that were nearly absent in
Kerry’s discussion with the Wall Street Journal
... Kerry represents that section of
the US ruling elite that wants to set aside Bush’s
doubletalk about democratization. This was
necessary for gulling the American people during
the run-up to the war, they concede, but now it is
time to get on with their real business, by
establishing the security conditions in which
American capital can extract profits from Iraq’s
huge oil reserves and from lucrative contracts
with the US-controlled puppet regime in Baghdad."
And in the fourth place, I
can post ignorant cartoons too, but if you noticed
in the 104 cartoons I posted, (http://www.zappa.com/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=general;action=display;num=1077553209;start=195
), only 2 contained Kerry, and that was for
two specific reasons, as opposed to just posting
stupid Nader cartoons which are founded in
ignorance, (although I might say that even the
ignorant cartoon below does have a grain of
truth).
And whether this one has
some truth or not, can only be decided in th
eheart of the viewer:

And really now Jimmy, what could be
further from the truth:
It's amazing what lengths
the NaderFactor.com will go to in support of their
denial of truth. Bush and Kerry are
going to push this war and all it's violence.
Nader will stop the violence, and give the country
back to the Iraqi people. To pull corporate and
the puppet government is the only way to peace,
and Nader is the candidate who will do that.
http://cfr.org/
Also to note, the key to the
deception is in the TITLE of the propaganda posted
above, the words "AD CAMPAIGN" and the word
"ASSERTS". An Ad Campaign Asserts
a Bush-Nader Alliance

Nader will not
win this election. A deluded fool may think so,
and that fool may cast a frivilous vote for Nader.
Reality: Either Bush or Kerry will
be declared the winner. Question: If
you're gonna vote for Nader, which of the two
(Bush-Kerry) would you rather have in office? No
fuckin' wishy-washy response. Who would ya rather
have...Bush or Kerry? |

| | I
would perfer Kerry over Bush slightly, but it
really doesn't matter that much to me because a
dead baby killed by Kerry is virtually the same as
a dead baby killed by bush.
BOTH bush and Kerry know how
to end the violence. However neither can admit
that there is a way out because they cannot do it,
they are too indentured. Nader however can pull
contracts, pull the puppet government as the
Council on Foreign Relations reccomends.
Because the majority of americans
are unaware of a way out ot this mess does not
mean I must join them, and furthermore, if I vote
for the commander and chief of US forces, and the
killing continues (as it will with no difference
between unnecessary bush deaths and unnecessary
kerry deaths), then those murders carry my
approval. Conversly, if I fight them tooth and
nail, then innocent death does not have my
concent. There is going to be a lot
of killing after this election. It will not have
my name on it.

| | I
don't give a shit if I'm the ONLY person in the
united states who is for peace, I am still not
going to vote for war. Voting only my
consience is neither deluded nor frivilous. If all
people were as informed as I, and if all
people voted their consience, we wouldnt have to
be dealing with the confusion of this evil, nor
setteling for the lesser of two evils. It's easy
for the informed to see this mess that tatical
voting has gotten us into, indeed is a major part
of the reason Nader can't (as of now, jury's still
out on the PDC), win. Corporate has bought both
parties now, I will not cave in to them, for if I
did, we mught as well simply hand the keys of
foreign policy to the 1/10 of the top 1% who are
paying for 80% of the money Kerry and Bush have. I
will not be bought by the rich. All
people should be informed, and nothing should sway
them from voting their consience. Period.

This from the emails, I'll be in the
demonstration Sunday, but not Saturday if anyone
want's to hook up. Friend,
"Pro-war convention number two" is
gearing up in New York City as thousands of
protestors are planning to hit the streets on
Sunday, August 29th. Come to
Manhattan to protest and join the Nader/Camejo
2004 Counter Convention. Peter Miguel Camejo
speaks Saturday, August 28th at Washington Square
Park. The Nader/Camejo 2004
contingency will be meeting and marching from 20th
Street & 6th Avenue on Sunday, August 29th
organizing at 10 a.m. We'll be a
visible presence at the march. We're
creating a 20-foot banner that says "Impeach
Bush/Cheney". Not only will we need your
help carrying the banner, we need everyone's help
paying for it. Your contributions will help
us print t-shirts, placards, and stickers to give
the Nader/Camejo ticket a strong presence at the
march. Help us spread the word that
Nader/Camejo is the only ticket calling to bring
our troops home. We also need
you Monday
