essentially what you're saying is if Nader didn't
run this year (or four years ago) then everyone
who would've voted for Nader would've voted for
the Democrats?
If so, I think that's
BS. You can't assume that everyone would. Tim
Robbins (who's very outspoken and into politics)
was interviewed on CSNBC recently and raised the
above point and I obviously agree with him.

In
the last election, some huge percentage (60%)were
democrats who would have likely voted for Gore,
and most of the rest of his voters were
independents, who also would have likely voted for
Gore. I can't see any reason why this distribution
would be any different now. Nader's mostly left
leaning, so are most Democrats. And very very
small numbers of votes could very easily sway the

On another note, Tim Robbins is an
idiot. His wife is a much better analyst
politically.

That's some interesting propaganda in
the link you provided, RN. But nonetheless, people
are still assuming that voters would've voted for
the Democrats if Nader wasn't running. And I don't
see any proof that that's the case. As I'm sure
you know, half of America doesn't even vote in the
first place. So maybe the "Don't Vote Ralph"
campaign should change their slogan to "Don't Vote
George W." (although I believe people shouldn't be
told who to vote for) and concentrate on
educating the other half of America? Because if
they did, who knows what the turnout and more
importantly, the results would be if they did?

could possibly be elitist about wanting to get
Bush out of office? Voting for an independent
candidate is going to change our system of
government? Apparently you haven't noticed that
independent candidates are part of our lovely
system already. Whatever you or I think about our
government, it's here and it's not going anywhere
in any of our lifetimes. So get real. I don't want
to inflict Bush on the rest of world, any more
than on us U.S. citizens. Lets limit the damage
and move on! Another 4 years of Bush could
screw us in ways that will take years and years to
undo. I'm 51 years old, and this is the most
important election in my lifetime, with real life
and death consequences hanging in the balance.
It's not elitist to suggest that a vote is a
valuable tool for change, is it?
I
generally agree with Tim Robbins, but let's not
annoint him the next Fellini just yet, ok?

myself, there is a huge difference between what
will happen if Bush gets re-elected and what will
