I like Ralph Nader. And you know
what? If all the people who are saying that
they're not going to vote for him because he
doesn't have a chance at winning or that he'll by
default make Bush win again would take the time to
vote for him, Ralph just might have a chance in
the upcoming election, don't you think?

"DELAND, Fla., Nov. 11 - Something
very strange happened on election night to
Deborah Tannenbaum, a Democratic Party official
in Volusia County. At 10 p.m., she called the
county elections department and learned that Al
Gore was leading George W. Bush 83,000 votes to
62,000. But when she checked the county's Web
site for an update half an hour later, she found
a startling development: Gore's count had
dropped by 16,000 votes, while an obscure
Socialist candidate had picked up 10,000--all
because of a single precinct with only 600
voters." - Washington Post Sunday , November

Josh. Yes, well, aside from questions about the
effect he'll have on the race, there's also the
fact that he's not a good candidate himself. I
like him too, always have. But I think he'd be way
over his head as president. He's been an effective
consumer advocate and mouth piece. But he's really
foggy on the other big issues, and shows no
ability to work with others, which is absolutely a
requirement for the job. Otherwise you get nothing
done. And if he cared about this country at this
crucial time, he'd throw all his influence behind
the Democrats and get Bush the hell out of office.
He'd actually achieve so many more of his goals
that way, don't you think? That itself shows a
serious lack of judgment, and a blind spot about
his own need to bask in the spot light.
Fuck him, I say. |

this country I feel the majority only know of two
parties Republicans and Democrats. That's the way
its been and probabley will continue. My state
Virginia has always leaned towards the
Republicans. I remember in December, 1992
in a 7-11 the man ahead of me in line was
bitching about his Health insuranse going up on
Jan 1st. The next thing out of his mouth was "That
Fucking Clinton". I had to remind him that Clinton
wasn't in office, and wouldn't be sworn in as
president till Jan 20th, 1993. His next words was
"Fuck You".

| | "I
think that the Stalin quote in your post is of the
'mutated on the internet' variety." There's one
way of describing a "memory quote" -- which was
clearly my intention with no pretense to
scholarship -- the meaning was conveyed
untarnished although diminished in eloquence. Is
there a point to this, jimmy d? My suspicion is
that your earlier post was what reminded me
of what I'd long forgotten or that I'd been seeing
that quotation repeated variously around the grand
and glorious Internet with "PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION"
figuring so prominently in the last several
months. I'll hazard a guess and give your earlier
posting the most likely reminder.
So, "tempest in a teapot", mr. d,
agreed? I'd even declare there was no "copyright
violation" involved! What I wish is that I
hadn't cleared out so much "dead email" ans lost
the "CNET" URL to the whole "Diebold
Issue". Theirs was a very commendable story
and they were among the first to latch onto the
Ohio-based Diebold company. (There is some chance
the less-often-flushed PC in the guestroom/den
still has that link even though either of us could
search it out very easily.) Oh,
yeah! One thing, a political cartoon (Of all
things!) I had saved for an unusually long time,
does come to mind since it was only too apropos of
many an instance of excessively laughable
nitpicking and I would still pay some bizarrely
unjustifiable amout to have the thing back! It was
in regard to the US assisted-British need to
reclaim the Falkland Islands in '82 and the
depiction goes thus: Two elderly bald men are
shown fighting furiously over a broken comb. I
wanted to frame it, didn't get around to doing it,
and now it's been gone so long there's no reason
to think I might still have it at all.
Ack! And to see the remaining
"political cartoons" I still have laminated that
are now very, very dull and irrelevant fries my
ass when I think of the ones I've lost!
